USA : Fast Fortress and Gatling Guns!

Alright alright alright it is time to trully unleash the power of USA! I hope you are ready cause boy oh boy am I!

This is, in my opinion, the most powerfull approach to the USA. Will it be the one that fits into the current metagame? That's another question. With a very early Fortress Age timing, sub 7:00, this build order can get a Factory or 3 Gatling Guns up before 7:45!

On top of that, you have an early Barracks, a strong defensive shipment with 8 State Militia and Minutemen in case things go crazy a bit to fast for your taste. You should be able to gather the resources you need to click for Fortress age before 6:10, making this build extremely safe overal.

Icing on the cake? It's not that hard to execute, and comes with a more greedy variant for lower matchups! Have fun guys!

  • Very safe Fast Fortress
  • Incredibly good shipments in Fortress Age
  • Strong mid to late game!

  • Even if safe, it is still a Fast Fortress. Be carefull not to get rushed!
  • Better on Trading Post maps

Why should you aim to reach Fortress Age as fast as possible as the USA?

  • Thanks to Virginia, you can fast age while having a military building up and while receiving units upon reaching Fortress Age. This makes the strategy very safe by nature
  • Thanks to New Hampshire, you get access to an early Factory. A Factory on wood is the equivalent of 11 Villagers. This is, by a mile, the strongest economic shipment in the game
  • As the USA, you receive XP crates (Books) upon aging. The more you age up, the more XP you get, the more shipments you get, which obviously get better as you age
  • You also get access to the Gatling Gun. Likely the most powerfull artillery piece in early Fortress Age! It is able to push back any Commercial Age army, especially when guarded by a few Regulars

If you are not convinced yet, going Fortress Age faster also allow you to get more out of the Russian Immigrants. 2 Blockhouses is a huge amount of map control, provide population space, act as an Outpost and a Barracks. On top of that, Russian Immigrants provide a 30% boost to hunting! For every 10 Villagers you have on food, that’s the equivalent of having 3 more, non upgraded, Villagers gathering food as well!

 

Now that you are convinced, this Build Order has two distinct routes you can follow.

I will first present you the safe one. That’s the one i would always go for as a beginner and when you are not absolutly sure you can afford the greed. The French and Irish Immigrants sent in Exploration age will provide you 7.75 villagers worth of shipments, for only 200 wood, before reaching Commercial Age, which is huge already!

Then we will take a look at the greedy one. That should only be used in slower match ups in which you are 100% sure you can greed without dying! However you get a stronger late game economy as a result. The French and Dutch Immigrants in that case will provide the equivalent of 8.3 villagers worth of shipment in the short term (+1 for each 10 villagers gathering coin). This is of course amazingly strong, but it comes with the added cost of 350 coin!

Age 1

  • Gather all your crates, then put all Villagers on wood
  • Build an House, and gather wood until you reach 200 wood. After that, swap all villagers to food
  • Send the French Immigrants, for 3 Coureur des Bois and your villagers are stronger in combat, but costing 200 wood
  • Gather 800 food, age up at 17 Villagers with Virginia, for a Military Wagon
  • As soon as you have 800 food, transition Villagers to wood

You should click at 3:20 with a perfect execution!

Transition

  • Swap all your villagers to wood, but 2 herding
  • Build a Trading post (if your map got none, build a Church upon aging, and another house), 2 Houses and a Market. Then swap all your villagers to food but 5 on coin

Without a trading post, you will be behind in XP. Try to get as much as possible from treasures and by killing treasures guardians

  • Send Irish Immigrants at 4:21, not before! That way you will receive 4 Villagers at 5:01

Age 2

You should reach Commercial Age at 5:05! We will train 2 villagers in Commercial Age

  • Build your Barracks with the Military Wagon. Gather your XP crates
  • Send 700 coin
  • Macro towards 1200 food and 300 coin. Gather your crates as they arrive
  • Send Virginia General Assembly, for a State Capitol Wagon and the first upgrade being free!
  • Age up with New Hampshire, for 5 Regulars

You should click at 5:55 with a perfect execution!

Transition

  • Put half your villagers on food, half of them on coin (Coureur  des Bois on food). The goal is to be able to call Minutemen on age up while training a batch of Regulars at the same time
  • Build your State Capitol with the wagon. Immediatly research Statehood, for an age up 50 seconds faster and twice the XP from crates from it
  • You should start your batch of Regulars 25 seconds before you age up. With perfect execution, this means starting your batch at 6:25. That way, as you age, you will suddenly pop 10 Regulars and be able to call Minutemen on top of that! This should be able to push back any pressure, especially with your Town Center firing behind!

Age 3

You should reach Fortress Age at 6:55! From there, every thing you do depend on the amount of pressure your opponent is putting on you. Send the 3 Gatling Guns at any point if you feel the need! 

  • Send a Factory. Make sure to put it on wood as it arrives. New villagers go to food
  • Keep training Regulars, get your first Market upgrades, Hunting Dogs and Placer Mines
  • Send the Russian Immigrants, for 2 Blockhouses and a massive 30% boost for hunting! Try to use the Blockhouses to secure outward mines and hunts. Make sure to research Frontiersmen and Steel Traps in your Market for a safe and efficient hunting

From there guys, it’s really up to you! Pick the good balance between Regulars and State Militias, add Gatling Guns and later on cavalry with Hussars and Uhlans! If the game is slower, build additional Town Centers with your State Capitol. Make sure to get all your military upgrades, and have fun!

If you have never piloted this build order before, I implore you to go for the safer version first! 


Age 1

Same as the previous version!

Transition

  • Swap all your villagers to coin, but 1 herding
  • Send the Dutch Immigrants, for a Bank and 10% gather rate boost on mines
  • Swap all your villagers to wood, build a Trading post (if your map got none, build a Church upon aging up). Then swap all your villagers back to food

Without a trading post, you will be behind in XP. Try to get as much as possible from treasures and by killing treasures guardians

Age 2

You should reach Commercial Age at 5:05! We will train 3 villagers in Commercial Age

Same as the previous version!

You should click at 6:35 with a perfect execution!

Transition

  • Put half your villagers on food, half of them on wood (Coureur  des Bois on food). The goal is to be able to call Minutemen on age up and build one House before aging. After the House is built, 2/3 on food and 1/3 on coin
  • Build your State Capitol with the wagon. Immediatly research Statehood, for an age up 50 seconds faster and twice the XP from crates from it
  • You should start your batch of Regulars 25 seconds before you age up. With perfect execution, this means starting your batch at 6:20.
